09.08.12 Mother of the Groom

You are the answer to every mother of the bride and groom.  Meghann knew Bay Harbor would be beautiful and be the perfect backdrop for her and Dylan’s wedding….the problem was that they told me it was booked for Saturday.  Ta Da, Nicole’s first magic, the wedding was at Bay Harbor on the Lake Lawn no less.

The whole barn thing made me nervous right from the beginning.  It probably didn’t help that I saw it the first time in January with Carl’s cars and boats stored in it.  After our visit in June,  I really wasn’t feeling a whole lot better.  Is the tent big enough? What about the bathrooms? What about these ugly buildings all around? The ground is uneven and people will fall.  None of us had heard the band and will it be too loud for people to mingle?  Are there enough places to sit in the barn?  Ta Da, Nicole second magic, the placement of everything was perfect…bean bag toss, the bar was beautiful with the billowing table clothes, the draping in the doorway of the barn, the welcome station as we entered from the field.

The tables under that wonderfully large, roomy tent was spectacular.  The row of lights lining the tent, the food stations, the microphone for the toasts was clear and loud enough for everyone to hear and the pies were a huge hit!  The food was delicious, my personal favorite was the salad.

The band owned that barn!  Moving the lounge furniture into the barn was genius.  The lightening, sofa, random scarves, lamps…stunning.  That entire corner of the barn glowed.

Clearly the concern for seating on my part was a non issue because people were either dancing, at the bar or sitting on the stools, tables and comfy furniture.  The pictures on the wall…heartwarming.  Ta Da third magic, I just couldn’t see how you were going to make that barn turn into the vision Meghann had described with such detail right from the beginning.

I cannot begin to express my profound gratitude for making me look like the most gracious and competent host. For taking all of Meghann’s creative ideas, merging them with yours, while addressing my “what about this” and turning it into Meghann and Dylan’s dream wedding.  It’s all you baby and I answered every compliment given to me with,  “we couldn’t have done it without Nicole”.

After getting back from a few days away, the first thing I wanted to do was give you a huge virtual hug and ginormous thank you!!! Our wedding day could not have been more perfect and we owe all of it to you. The country club was more beautiful than I could have ever imagined or dreamed!!! We had an outdoor wedding on June 29, 2012. Emerald City Designs did all of our invitations, decor, linen and flowers. I cannot begin to say what an incredible job they did with everything. From the start of my process I worked with Nicole, she was amazing. She gave me many ideas and also worked with mine. Everything turned out perfectly; it was so elegant, unique and gorgeous. Nicole also did my coordinating for the wedding day and I seriously do not know what I would have done without her!!! Sarah did my invitations and they turned out beautiful, she was awesome to work with. I had zero stress working with them and they helped me so much with last minute things to be sure all was stress free and went exactly as planned on the day of the wedding. I was told so many times by a friend of mine, who is a decorator that she could not have done it better and it was the most beautiful wedding they had ever been to. I highly recommend Emerald City Designs for the floral, linens, invitations and decor. They are priced very reasonable and are outstanding with what they do. Hi Nicole!

I cannot thank you enough for all of your hard work.  I was blown away over and over again on saturday.  The Detroit Athletic Club is a beautiful venue, but you transformed it into our wedding.  The ceremony space was so romantic and the trees looked beautiful!  The facebook pictures are amazing!  All of my family and friends were blown away.  The main dining room was so beautiful and the tables were awesome!  The candles that you guys painted turned out so beautifully.  All of the special touches blended in to reflect Mark and I exactly.  Also the stationary was incredible!!! The menu cards and the placecard/schedule cards were so beautiful!  I loved the paper!

I was completely blown away by the lounge space.  It was incredible.  The crystal room divider reflected all of the light and I honestly was speechless when I saw it, which we all know happens very rarely!  You are your staff created a posh beautiful event that people felt comfortable in, and were able to transition from romantic to classic to fun as they came from room to room.

Thank you so much for all of your hard work and vision.  You were so easy to work with and really brought all of our ideas to life.  You are very talented, and certainly made my event. Period.

We have officially stepped back into reality, albeit much to our dismay. Although we had a wonderful honeymoon, we were ready to get back and connect with people so we could talk about the day. I, of course, am still on a high from all the festivities, but am starting to feel that “i can’t believe it is all over” feeling… amazing how fast it all goes.

I am only slightly embarrassed to admit that I have been dreaming and planning my wedding for the last 28 years. Although my “visions” have evolved slightly over this time, I can honestly say the room was BEYOND everything I could have dreamed…. it took my breath away. I just wanted to say THANK YOU for such an AMAZING job.  My wedding was absolutely gorgeous.  My vision came to life, and when I saw it (the reception hall) I almost fell to my knees.  A little theatrical, I know, but I’m serious. The flowers, the tealights on the gold branches, all the gorgeous candles, the rasberry lighting, the way the gold chairs shined off the plum silk tablecloths, the awesome scroll for guest names, the flowers around the cake, all of it.  When I got the bouquets at the house, we all gasped at how pretty and soft and gorgeous the bouquets were. Oh girls, it was perfect. And Sarah did an amazing, amAZING job on my tri-fold.  I LOVED the way it turned out.  And the colors completely matched the color palettes of the reception.  I added a few of my own small details which went perfectly with everything you all did.  I am so happy with everything you did and will gladly refer you to my friends and colleagues looking for perfection.  I will share with you some pictures.

I miss my party planning days, but glad to get on with the next pat of our life.

Pine Knob Mansion Wedding

Dear Emerald City Designs,

I found a picture in a magazine as I was planning my wedding and fell in love with the design. I immediately knew that was going to be my wedding. You can tell a lot about a business and how it is run when you show up unannounced – so that is exactly what I did. I was greeted at the door by the owner, David McKnight, I recognized him from the article in the magazine. He invited me in to look around the showroom. While he didn’t have any available sales agents at the time, he still treated me like I was already a client. I had been turned away by so many other places for not having an appointment. Not Emerald City Designs. I scheduled a date to return.

The first thing I did was hand them a budget I needed to work within. We discussed my wishes and what I was, and wasn’t willing to give up. I booked immediately. Emerald City Designs handled everything for me – my programs, invitations, linens, chairs, flowers and decorations. I had regrets for the wedding personally call to tell me they couldn’t attend, but wanted to know who designed my invitations because they were exquisite.

When I arrived the day of the wedding I had no doubt that Emerald City Designs had done everything to perfection, but I had no idea how beautiful perfection truly would look. When I was greeted by their event staff, I instantly started to cry. The level of professionalism and the pride they take in making your event a “dream come true” is impeccable.

I would not change one single thing about my day, and with that being said, my event would not have been so perfect had I not hired Emerald City Designs.

David, I want to personally thank you and your entire staff for making my “dream come true”.
